Google Meet - Pin and Mute/Unmute Options

Google Meet Participants should follow instructions to Pin and Mute/Unmute Options for Google Meet




1. Computer/Laptop Google Meet Users:

Pin a participant

In a participant's thumbnail image, click Pin Pin (keep) .

Mute a participant’s microphone

If you have feedback or hear background noise while in a video meeting, you might want to mute other people’s microphones. For meetings organized through a personal account, only the meeting moderator can mute other participants. 
To mute others, next to the person’s thumbnail, point to Volume  and thenMute Mute
Tip: For privacy reasons, you cannot unmute another person. Ask the participant to unmute their audio. To mute or unmute yourself, at the bottom of the video window click Mute Mute.Phone participants can press *6 to unmute their phone. Any participant can mute.

2. Android Mobile Google Meet Users:

Landscape mode

  1. Rotate your device to landscape mode
  2. Tap a participant’s image.
  3. To pin the person to the top of the list,  tap Pin  .

  • To mute other people, on the People tab, select the person and tap Mute Mute.
  • You can also rotate your phone to landscape mode, swipe to scroll through the list, tap the person’s image, and tap Mute Mute

  1. Rotate your iPhone to landscape mode.
  2. Tap a participant’s image to go to more controls, such as Mute Mute, Pin Pin (keep) , or Remove Remove.
  3. Swipe your image up or down to hide or show the thumbnails (filmstrip), or to move the filmstrip on your screen.
  4. Swipe another person’s image up or down to scroll through the participant list.
